PROJECT DESCRIPTION

An industrial client required the complete engineering, fabrication guidance, and on-site installation of a boiler chimney system for safe exhaust discharge as per pollution control norms and boiler regulatory standards.
The project included chimney design, structural foundation engineering, stability calculations, and full erection at site with proper anchoring, guy wire arrangement (if applicable), and safety compliance.

Adhyntra Pvt Ltd delivered a complete solution covering design, drawings, foundation planning, alignment, welding, testing, and on-site installation support.

PROJECT PROCESS / APPROACH

1️⃣ Requirement Analysis & Technical Study

  • Reviewed boiler capacity, flue gas flow, and stack emission requirements
  • Considered draft requirements, chimney height norms & Pollution Control Board guidelines
  • Studied site space, wind zone, soil conditions & structural limitations

2️⃣ Chimney Design & Engineering

Designed the chimney as per:

  • IS 6533 (Design & Construction of Steel Chimneys)
  • Pollution Control Board (SPCB/CPCB) emission norms
  • National Building Code (NBC) for external structures

Engineering Deliverables:

  • Chimney height calculation
  • Shell thickness & plate selection
  • Base flange & stiffener design
  • Ladder, platform & manhole design
  • Guy wire arrangement (if required)
  • Wind load & seismic load analysis
  • Foundation load calculations

3️⃣ Foundation Design & Civil Interface

Provided complete foundation engineering including:

  • RCC foundation design with M20/M25 grade
  • Anchor bolt layout
  • Base plate levelling arrangement
  • Earthing recommendations
  • Drainage & access platform considerations

Delivered:

  • Foundation GA
  • Anchor bolt plan
  • Structural load sheet

4️⃣ Fabrication Guidance & QA Checks

  • Shell plate rolling guidelines
  • Welding sequence & WPS recommendations
  • NDT requirements (visual / DP / UT if needed)
  • Painting & corrosion protection system
  • Final fabrication inspection checklist

5️⃣ On-Site Installation & Erection

Executed the chimney erection with proper methodology:

  • Base alignment & anchoring
  • Multi-section lifting using crane
  • Verticality check (spirit / digital level)
  • Guy wire tensioning (if provided)
  • Ladder, cage, platform & lightning arrestor installation
  • Chimney stabilization & bolting
  • Final connection to boiler outlet duct

Safety procedures followed:

  • Hot work permit
  • Working at height permit
  • Crane lift risk assessment
  • Minimum 3-point anchoring for crew
